Description: The integration of public and population health (PPH) outcomes into the training of U.S. physicians has increased in recent years. The COVID-19 pandemic, structural racism, epidemic gun violence, and the health threats caused by climate change are a few examples of contemporary areas medical educators are addressing in new and innovative ways. This session will review the state of PPH content in medical education, review relevant guidance, including policies, standards, and recommendations from national bodies that represent and oversee medical education for physicians with MD degrees. Participants will consider the guidance across the medical education continuum, from premedical education to continuing board certification and its relevance to their individual roles across the competency based educational continuum.
