Member Boards Connect 2023 is a special educational and networking event designed specifically by and for ABMS Member Board staff. Volunteers and board leadership are also invited to participate, as well as ABMS staff.
**To participate in the afternoon’s events, choose any of the three breakout sessions. This will enroll you in the full day’s educational sessions as well. Be sure to also select the reception from 5:00 to 6:00 pm (CT), exclusively for ABMS and Member Board staff!**
There is no additional fee to attend Member Boards Connect 2023, which is offered in person only. However, to participate you must also register to attend ABMS Conference 2023 either in-person or virtually.

1:30 – 3:30 pm (CT): Welcome, Introduction, and Panel Discussion Operationalizing Continuing Certification Standards at the Staff Level
Member Boards Connect 2023 begins with a panel presentation followed by a facilitated discussion on how ABMS Member Boards are preparing to implement the ABMS Standards for Continuing Certification. Attendees will better understand: • Overview of the ABMS Standards for Continuing Certification • Baseline self-assessment data • Three board examples on their lessons learned, standards implementation, and what insights and challenges they have identified
3:45 – 5:00 pm (CT) Building Organizational Capacity and Enhanced Infrastructure Moderator: Kristin Robinson, Longitudinal Assessment Lead, American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR)
• The American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) recently underwent a digital transformation project at their organization. Michele Miller, Associate Executive Director of Systems at Technology, will discuss some of the drivers behind this project and the creation of their staff IT Governance Committee to help with decision-making. • In 2022 and 2023, the Philadelphia Business Journal recognized the American Board of Surgery (ABS) as one of Philadelphia’s Best Places to Work. Jessica Schreader, Chief of Staff and Chief Administrative Officer, will discuss ABS’ efforts for staff development and retention, along with other ongoing workplace improvements.
