Description: The Women in Professional Regulation Project (WIPR, Project) explores the history and impact of women in medical professional regulation using oral histories of current and past leaders in the field. This session will present the WIPR project and provide insights and themes from fifteen interviews. Topics to be presented include the backgrounds of women who become involved in professional regulation; experiences entering a field that was largely closed to women until the 1980s; the role of public members; and perceived impact of women’s entry into this work. In addition to encouraging others to document the history of professional regulation, there will be opportunities to identify other people who should be interviewed.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a 30-minute session.
